Notes

How to Make Watermelon Juice

  1. Slice watermelon and remove the rind. Cut into chunks and place the watermelon flesh into a bowl. Mash with a potato masher or squeeze the juice from the watermelon using clean hands, discarding the pulp.
  2. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve and place into a covered container. Chill until ready to use, up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
  • Lime Juice: Margaritas typically have lime juice but we felt the lime over powered the watermelon flavor so we skipped it in this recipe.
  • Too Sweet: Watermelon juice is very sweet, if you would like to tone down the sweetness a bit, top each glass off with club soda or Sprite. This was my favorite version of this margarita.
  • Make a Pitcher: To make a pitcher multiply the ingredients by four to make eight drinks.
  • Frozen: Freeze the watermelon juice in ice cube trays overnight. Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
  • Rim Garnish Variations: Use coarse salt, black lava salt or lime salt if preferred to garnish the rim.
  • Rum or Vodka: Rum or vodka can be substituted for the tequila if preferred.
  • Make it a Mocktail: Skip the alcohol and substitute Sprite.
