Ingredients

  • 2 cups walnuts
  • 2 cups sliced almonds

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Once your oven reaches 400°F, turn it completely off.
  • Spread nuts in a single, even layer on a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  • Immediately place the cookie sheet in the oven and double-check to make sure the oven is turned off.
  • Leave the nuts inside the oven until they are completely cooled. The residual heat gently and evenly toasts the nuts without burning.
  • Once completely cooled, remove the nuts from the oven and store them in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Store your freshly toasted nuts in airtight containers, such as Weck jars or mason jars, for maximum freshness.
  • Toasted nuts will keep at room temperature in airtight containers for up to 2 weeks.
  • For longer storage, toasted nuts freeze exceptionally well. Seal them tightly in freezer-safe containers or bags and freeze for up to 6 months. Defrost at room temperature before use.
