Pour buttermilk into a shallow bowl, add sliced jalapenos, stirring to coat well.
Mix flour and seasonings together in a zip top bag.
Add sliced jalapenos to flour mixture and shake to coat. Shake off excess flour and place in a single layer on a lined baking sheet.
Heat oil in a cast iron skillet to 375°. Add jalapenos a few at a time, turning after about a minute, frying until crispy. Remove to a wire rack, lined with paper towels to drain.
Serve with blooming onion sauce or ranch dressing.
Double recipe as needed, using the same amount of oil, frying in batches.
Best served fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Reheat in an air fryer or toaster oven for a few minutes.
