How to Make Fried Pickles
- Drain and Dry Pickles: Drain the pickles and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps the batter stick better.
- Add flour and seasoning salt to a medium sized bowl and whisk to combine. Add water and milk and whisk until well combined.
- Add oil to a heavy bottom skillet or dutch oven. Heat over medium-high to 350° using a deep fry thermometer.
- Dip pickles in batter and let excess drip off. Carefully place in hot oil, turning about every 30 seconds until well browned on both sides. Don’t crowd the pan, cook a small batch of 6-8 at at time.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove to a paper towel lined wire rack on a baking sheet to drain.
Serve with ranch dressing or blooming onion sauce.
Recipe Notes
- Leftovers: Fried pickles are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in an air fryer at 375°F for 3-5 minutes or in the oven at 400°F for 8-10 minutes.
- Spice Level: Add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the batter for spicy fried pickles.

Wonder how they would be with “bread and Butter” pickles???
Hi Patti,
They are fantastic with bread and butter pickles. We tried that the last time we made them and the guys actually like them better than the dill!
