Spiked Eggnog
Spiked Eggnog is a super simple and delicious holiday cocktail that you can enjoy all season long! Made simply with store bought eggnog, bourbon and pure cane syrup.
My family LOVES eggnog, I mean loves it. I have made it from scratch but during the holidays I mostly just pick it up from the store. This spiked version was a huge hit with everyone that tried it. We also love these Eggnog White Russian Cocktails for the holidays.
You might be thinking that adding cane syrup would make it too sweet but it doesn’t. It seems to tone down the bourbon and it all blends together for something special.

Ingredients for Spiked Eggnog:
- Eggnog
- Bourbon – we used Old Foresters
- Real Cane Syrup
- Nutmeg and Red Pepper for optional garnishes
How to Make Spiked Eggnog:
- Use a cocktail jigger to measure pure cane syrup and pour into a cocktail shaker.
- Add bourbon.
- Pour in eggnog.
- Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
- Pour into an old fashioned glass.
- Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg and a pinch of red pepper if desired.
The red pepper might sound a little crazy but it just adds a bit of warmth to the eggnog and goes nicely with the bourbon. Try it!
What is Cane Syrup & Where Can You Buy It?
We found pure cane syrup in the local grocery store (find it on Amazon) while gawking through the jams and jellies. We often pick up molasses for making bbq sauce and just happened to see the Real Cane Syrup. We had been brainstorming adding molasses to a cocktail and it all sort of just fell in to place.
Cane syrup is just simply boiled sugar cane juice. Molasses is what is left after the sugar granules are removed to make granulated sugar. It is not as sweet as is sounds. Not as sweet as molasses but has much of the same flavor.
You’ll just have to pick up a jar and try it. We were quite enthralled with the brand story behind Steen’s Syrup that started in 1910 in Louisiana. Look it up for an interesting read.
We love simple holiday cocktails that can be mixed up as friends and family stop by through the holiday season. It is easy to have a few basic ingredients on hand for spontaneous get togethers. This Raspberry Hot Chocolate is always a crowd favorite.
