  • Cooked Chicken: Use leftover rotisserie chicken, cooked chicken breasts or thighs.
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese: substitute mozzarella cheese if desired.
  • Wonton Wrappers
  • Vegetable Oil for frying: Tallow or Lard
  • Green Onions for garnish – optional
  • Ranch Dressing, for dipping: Blue cheese dressing is great too.

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Wontons

Making the filling for wontons with cream cheese, hot sauce, cheese and chicken.
  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, ranch dressing mix, granulated garlic, and hot sauce. Mix on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth.
  2. Add Chicken & Cheese: Fold in the shredded chicken and cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.

  1. Fill the Wontons: Lay out the wonton wrappers a few at a time, keeping wrappers under a damp towel as you work. Place about a 1/2 tablespoon of filling in the center of each. Lightly brush the edges with water, then fold into a triangle, pinching the edges to seal tightly. Brush the bottom corners with water and fold in, lightly pressing together.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat vegetable oil to 375°F using an fry thermometer.
  3. Fry Until Golden: Carefully drop wontons into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for about 1- 2 minutes per side or until golden brown.

  1. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined wire rack.
